About Adventists

We believe that God is love

God is love. It’s a simple statement that has profound ramifications. Love can only exist when there is freedom. But freedom entails risk. And so God created humans with the choice to love Him, thereby risking rejection. But when humans did reject God, He didn’t reject us. Instead, He sent His Son to reconcile us to Him, demonstrating His deep love for each of us.

We believe in the Bible

The Bible isn’t just your average book — it’s a love letter, storybook, history lesson, self-help guide and collection of inspirational quotes all rolled into one. Adventists study the Bible to get to know God, learn from the stories, gain insight into how to live our lives and to read God’s many promises that give us hope, peace and confidence.

We believe in Jesus, our Saviour

Jesus is the best example of what authentic love looks like — He served the weak, championed the marginalised, healed the sick and loved outcasts. And then, in the ultimate expression of love, He died for everyone — whether or not they loved Him. We look forward to the day when Jesus returns to take us to live with Him in a world where evil will no longer exist.

We believe in abundant health

As Christians, we believe the best way to show our love and respect for God is to be the best we can: physically, mentally, socially and spiritually. We believe that a wholesome lifestyle contributes to good physical health, which enhances a person’s mental and spiritual potential.

We believe in the Sabbath

The Sabbath is God’s gift to us — a time for rest and restoration of our connection to God and others. It reminds us of God’s creation and Jesus’ grace. It’s a time for worship, prayer, fellowship, service, rest and renewal … created especially for us by God!

We believe in Adventist Education

At the heart of Adventist Education is a belief that children achieve true growth when their mental, physical, social and spiritual needs are met. With a focus on personal attention to every child, Adventist schools provide a nurturing and caring learning environment where Christian values are upheld.

We believe in serving our community

The ultimate demonstration of love is to serve. When Jesus came to this earth, much of His time was spent in loving service to others. Following Jesus’ example, Seventh-day Adventists are committed to loving and caring for people through acts of kindness and service.

The story of the Adventist church begins with an unexpected message, a religious awakening, and a great disappointment. Discover our church's history by watching the video below.
